“RiseUp. Take Charge. Win.”

Bernadette “Bernie” Beale is the Founder and Editor of RiseUp Women’s Sports. A lifelong advocate for women’s athletics, she has dedicated her career to creating opportunities, amplifying athletes’ voices, and ensuring women’s sports receive the recognition they deserve.
Before the camera and the press credentials, Bernie was building something even bigger—an actual women’s sports organization.
As the former owner of the Atlanta Panthers Soccer Club, she built a full-scale soccer program from the ground up, featuring a competitive women’s team, youth academy, recreational programs, and community outreach that created opportunities for athletes of all ages.
That same builder’s mindset now fuels RiseUp Women’s Sports. Through original journalism, photography, video production, and storytelling, Bernie has provided on-the-ground coverage of women’s sports at every level—from high school and collegiate competition to professional leagues and national events. Her work spans basketball, soccer, volleyball, track and field, professional football, lacrosse, golf, tennis, and more, with reporting from Washington, DC, Atlanta, Orlando, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, and beyond.
She didn’t just cover women’s sports. She helped build them.
Today, Bernie continues to lead RiseUp Women’s Sports with a vision of building one of the nation’s leading independent media organizations dedicated exclusively to women’s sports. Through credible, on-the-ground journalism, she informs fans, celebrates athletes, and helps shape the future of women’s sports coverage.
Atlanta Panthers Soccer Club
Before founding RiseUp Women's Sports, Bernadette "Bernie" Beale founded and operated the Atlanta Panthers Soccer Club, a women's soccer organization that included a UWS Pro-Am team, youth academy, recreational programs, camps, and community outreach initiatives. That experience in building a sports organization laid the foundation for the creation of RiseUp Women's Sports.
Established: 2012–2024

From Howard University’s Burr Gymnasium to Capital One Arena. From local high school courts in the DMV to NWSL pitches and PWHL ice. RiseUp covers women’s sports at every level — high school, collegiate, and professional — with the same energy and commitment regardless of the crowd size or the spotlight.
Our coverage spans women’s basketball, soccer, hockey, football, lacrosse, volleyball, track & field, pickleball, and more. We show up on the ground, with credentials, cameras, and a commitment to telling the full story.
Why It Matters
Women’s sports have always had great athletes. What it has often lacked is consistent, credible, and dedicated coverage that treats their games, voices, and communities with the same weight as any other sport.
RiseUp Women’s Sports exists to close that gap — one game, one interview, one story at a time.
Bernadette “Bernie” Beale
Founder & Editor | Women’s Sports Journalist
At the heart of RiseUp is faith. Our guiding verse, Ezra 10:4, shapes everything we do: “RiseUp; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.”
That verse became our motto. It became our mission. And it’s why Bernie shows up — camera in hand, press credential around her neck — at every game, every event, every moment that deserves to be seen.
From that truth came our motto:
It’s more than a tagline — it’s a declaration.
RiseUp Women’s Sports was created to challenge the lack of consistent coverage in women’s sports and to build a platform where women athletes are centered, valued, and celebrated.
What began as a passion project has grown into a mission-driven media brand focused on showing up, telling the stories that often go untold, and documenting the growth of women’s sports in real-time.
RiseUp Women’s Sports operates with a simple philosophy:
College. Pro. Community. One Region. One Rise.
Every game covered, every interview captured, and every story shared is part of a larger goal — to elevate women’s sports and create lasting visibility for the athletes and communities that power the game.
RiseUp. Take Charge. Win.
