RiseUp Women’s Sports Press Kit
RiseUp Women’s Sports is an independent nonprofit media organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of women’s sports through consistent, on-the-ground journalism, photography, video coverage, interviews, and original storytelling.
Founded by Bernadette “Bernie” Beale, RiseUp Women’s Sports is headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area with a growing national footprint. RiseUp covers athletes, teams, leagues, and major events across professional, collegiate, international, and emerging levels of women’s sports, with on-site coverage extending from the DMV to Orlando, Florida; Nashville, Tennessee; Pennsylvania; Atlanta, Georgia; and Houston, Texas. Houston coverage includes the USWNT. Atlanta coverage includes the Atlanta City Games (track and field), Veolia Atlanta Pickleball, LOVB, and Major League Volleyball (MLV).

Founder Bio
Bernadette “Bernie” Beale — Founder & Editor
Bernadette “Bernie” Beale is the founder and editor of RiseUp Women’s Sports. With a background in communications and firsthand experience in women’s sports ownership, she created RiseUp to provide consistent, on-the-ground coverage and greater visibility for women athletes.
Before founding RiseUp Women’s Sports, Beale owned the Atlanta Panthers Soccer Club from 2012–2024, which included a women’s UWS Pro-Am team, youth academy, recreational programs, camps, and community outreach.
Today, her work with RiseUp includes journalism, photography, video coverage, player and coach interviews, and original storytelling across high school, collegiate, and professional women’s sports.
Coverage & Credentials
RiseUp Women’s Sports provides credentialed, on-the-ground coverage of women’s sports, including professional leagues, collegiate athletics, national team events, and special sporting events.
Coverage has included the Washington Mystics, Washington Spirit, U.S. Women’s National Team, Women’s Lacrosse League, collegiate women’s basketball, soccer and lacrosse, along with additional women’s sporting events throughout the DMV and beyond.
RiseUp’s coverage includes game photography and video, highlights, pregame and postgame interviews, mixed-zone interviews, press conferences, and original editorial content.
